A paragraph describing a lesson plan you might create that uses technology in some way. Be sure to mention how you will use technology, what technology you would use, and what subject matter and grade level the lesson is for. (See Chapter 2 for ideas)
A paragraph in which you provide a visual critique of a web site using the rules presented in Chapter 6. Be sure to link to the site. If you’re up to an extra challenge, include images (screen shots or other sources) in your blog post.A paragraph about your experience with copyright and fair use of materials in an educational environment. How would you deal with these concepts as a teacher, developing your own instructional materials and having students who may use other sources to create their own works?
A lesson plan I have in mind is a simple research project. While they might sound simple I think students learn a lot form doing research projects. No only do they learn about the subject they are researching but they also learn to think critically. And they learn to effectively use their technology. They would have to cite their research site and any and all resources they used even paper books. I would teach them methods to distinguish reliable sites from unreliable ones. And also how to find information such as the most recent edit date and the author of the site.
Copyright laws are a nuisance but they do serve a purpose. With out laws protecting intellectual prop it would be a fast trip to a time where nothing is sacred and where the work of other quickly become the work of all. Having researched and written many papers requiring both internal citations and footnote citations I am fairly comfortable with various citation styles. There have been many different and new technologies developed to help catch plagiarism even among students. With the dawn of computers now being so readily available in order to control plagiarism in my class I would require an electronic copy of their paper submitted through one of these monitoring sites. Which would hopefully catch any blatant plagiarism but also you can normally tell by reading the paper and knowing your students whether the writing in the paper is theirs or someone else's.
