A paragraph about why you think computers are an important part of the educational experience and critical concerns related to how teachers and students use computers. Use Chapter 1 to find appropriate terminology and get you thinking. Do you agree or disagree with issues raised in Chapter 1? Why or why not?A paragraph on how you think you will use computers in your classroom. Use the textbook (Ch 1) to get ideas. What do you hope to learn in this class to help you achieve these goals?A paragraph on anything you would like to share/discuss with your classmates, especially if it applies to this course, technology in general, or your future career. Just have fun!
In the growing technological age computer are becoming more and more important. Computers can be and are very important in the classroom. Yet with this importance I feels come the opportunity for disadvantage. Technology is growing so fast what today is cutting edge tomorrow is barely passable. And as someone who is not necessarily tech savvy I feel at an additional disadvantage because my students will quite likely know more than me about computers. And while not all students are just looking to beat the system it only takes one to ruin the lot.
Technology can not be escaped it is something that has become crucial and I would be putting at a disadvantage my students should I not embrace it and do everything in my power to help them to understand this growing and complex world.
One problem faced but educators is the wide spectrum of students in today's classroom. Gone are the days where a teacher could walk into a classroom and legitimately expect their students to be prepared for class. While this is sad I feel it is true and it is not only the students fault. Parents are having to work hard in the present age they hardly have time to get dinner on the table let alone make sure their students have their homework done. These parents also fail in some aspects to stress upon their son or daughter the necessity of honor. The self-responsibly that allows us as teachers to trust them to do as assigned. The trust between teacher and student that an assignment when given will be carried out as instructed. Although the parents are not the only ones to be blamed. In the growing technological world it is often so easy for the student that they do not feel they are doing anything wrong.
And lets face technology isn't cheap, and with a wide spectrum of economical classes in your class you may have some students who don't have a computer at home or if they do then they might not have the newest and greatest programs on their computers. It is our job as teachers to help them overcome this.
How are computers to be used? As a science teacher there are not as many instances as say a language arts teacher or perhaps history. But I feel that science is a subject that is always growing and computers can help me keep myself and my students up to date. They can use computers to research for their projects or to help themselves understand concepts. Because in my opinion science should be hands on computers do not necessarily fit into that ideology but for times when "hands on" just isn't possible computers may prove a nice substitute.
